That makes it a natural fit for national conventions and large sales conferences where you need serious square footage and easy airport access for attendees flying in from all over the country.
Scottsdale is a different animal entirely, and that’s the point. Resorts like the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale are built around retreat-style meetings, smaller groups, incentive trips, leadership offsites, where the goal isn’t maximum capacity but a tighter, more memorable experience. I’ve worked both formats, and honestly, the tighter Scottsdale-style room is often where a mentalist show hits hardest. It’s the audience in front of me that shapes the show, not the skyline outside the window, and in a room of forty people at a resort ballroom, that closeness turns into something the whole group remembers walking out.

Scottsdale is more spread out and resort-centric, so most groups there lean on rideshares or resort shuttles between the airport and the property, still simple, just a different rhythm than downtown.
Beyond the Ballroom
For attendees bringing family along, Phoenix and Scottsdale both have plenty to fill the hours outside the meeting room. The Desert Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo are easy half-day trips from downtown, and Old Town Scottsdale offers a walkable mix of galleries, shopping, and restaurants close to most of the major resorts. None of that changes what happens once the show starts, my performance is built for a corporate audience, not a family crowd, but it’s worth knowing the options are there for the people who tag along.
